Details

7 inch Clipped Backed Bowie Blade 11.50 inch overall. The blade has 90% original finish with a few surface marks at the ricasso end, Staghorn grips with no cracks, Makers name surmounted with a Victorian crown No England and an Indian Trade Mark and the word Defence.

The Scabbard has had a leather tag sown on one side the other side has the original Belt frog with the Indian trade mark although the stiching has come undone on one side of the belt loop

This is a superb high quality Japanese made collectible folding locking bowie knife, made by United Cutlery. This knife was in my own private collection. It has never been used. It has never been sharpened. I have had it in my collection quite some time, and have looked at it on occasion, showed it off a bit, that’s all. It is still in excellent new condition. It comes with the original box, no sheath. The handle is hardwood, the blade is stainless steel. Fancy nickel-silver bolsters are nicely engraved with a leafy pattern and the words LIBERTY UNION. Blade length 4 1/4″ long , closed length 5 3/4”, (10” full length). It’s a really fine heavy duty, comfortable knife. The blade is stamped I * XL GBO (I think) WOSTENHOLM SHEFFIELD and on the opposite side JAPAN; the box calls it Liberty & Union Folding Bowie.

ABOUT THE PHOTOS: it is really hard to take a photo of a shiny blade with a flash camera. The flash washes out the photo too much to see any detail, so I took three photos without the flash, which are nice clear shots but in some the blade looks to be almost a matte finish. This is not the case, in person the blade is beautifully shiny and reflective. Photo 1 shows it best.

This the New 2010 X-Large Custom Anza “Burly Bowie” File Knife.  This is a substantial piece of High Carbon File Tool Steel.  It is made from a 16 inch Nicholson “Bastard” File (Not many Anzas are crafted from this X-Large File) in Full Tang Construction.  The Anza ”Burly Bowie” has a 1/4″ thick tang giving it plenty of back bone and wields some wieght.  It’s large blade is 8 1/4″ long and it’s overall length is 13 1/2″.  “Bastard” File Teeth are left on non critical areas of the blade adding to it’s character.  The polished Stag Horn handle is made of Elk Antler and Walnut Dymondwood with Multi Color inserts.  The butt of the handle has an extend tang pommel with a lanyard hole.  This Super Blade is must for any Bowie collection.  It comes with a Genuine Leather Sheath and both are 100% Made in the USA.  Buy this Anza “Burly Bowie” Now!

This is the third book in a collector’s series on Randall Made Knives, by Robert Hunt. These publications reflect the author’s interest in the historical role that knives have played and he has documented their use during the wars of the 20th Century. The theme of this work is the identification with the continuous design innovation of Randall knives, cataloged here in part by the appearance of images that often reflect the step by step enhancement of prototypical experimental knives.

This volume introduces the rare, unique and experimental knives of W.D. Randall, many either made or designed by him. The initial section explores knives from the Randall Museum, where over 50 images reflect the commitment to design innovation, which was and is still today, a hallmark of Randall Made Knives. Although not commonly seen, even though displayed in open cases at the Randall Museum in Orlando, this publication presents many of those unique types in a singular setting out of the case, where they can be viewed and appreciated for their various styles and relevant significance.

The second section contains knives from a private collection, which was uncovered by the author. The preservation of this collection, and in its original state, shows the care and interest taken in their ownership over the intervening 40 years. The period of their design and production, the mid-1960s, was a time of experimentation with survival types, full-tang designs and more, which are both reflected and represented in this volume. Interestingly enough, the knives in this grouping have roots in some of the “museum” examples and various designs can be found in Randall early “experiments” displayed in the museum cases.

Following these examples are an assortment of other rare and unusual knives, collected, compiled and exhibited in interesting arrangements, representing those knives that can’t lay claim to The Museum or notable private collections but reside in the knife drawers of Randall collectors of varied interests and persuasions, while carrying many of the unique design features of the former depictions.
